Specialized has voluntarily issued a safety recall on their 2012 and 2013 Tarmac SL4, 2013 Crux and 2013 Secteur Disc bicycle models.
The recall issue
The fork's carbon steerer can break posing fall and injury hazards (the "steerer" is the part of the fork that's hidden inside the frame). Unfortunately, Specialized has received two reports of forks breaking, including one involving reported facial injuries and lacerations requiring stitches.
If you own one of these bicycle models, please stop riding it immediately and return it to us for inspection.
The affected 2012 and 2013 model-year bicycles include ALL the Tarmac SL4 bikes, including S-Works, Pro, Expert, LTD and OSBB designations; 2013 Secteur Disc and Crux models. Please see the photos below.

As a special part of this corrective action, Specialized will provide each consumer returning a bicycle or frameset subject to this recall with a complimentary credit worth $100 towards the purchase of Specialized merchandise. The complimentary credit is not refundable in cash and must be used in a single transaction.
